Culture is
a big deal at Commodore because it defines us. It’s who we
are; who we’ve got to be to achieve our goals.
Culture molds leadership on every level of our organization.
When we talk about Commodore’s culture, we talk about a
Performance Culture, a Learning Culture and an
Open Culture. That’s what differentiates us from
everyone else and fuels our success as a young and growing
company. |

A
Performance Culture is always stretching and improving.
There’s lots of room for satisfaction and none for
complacency. We’re always looking for better ways to do just
about everything. Our performance culture is punctuated by
innovation and the courage to share and embrace new ideas.
We celebrate our successes, but we always keep an eye on
where there’s room for improvement. We’re not interested in
being “just as good” as our industry competitors. We have
to be better…and that’s the attitude you see, wherever you
look at Commodore. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
A
Learning Culture is constantly importing new
knowledge
and
translating that knowledge into better ways to work and to
meet industry challenges. We learn best practices from each
other. We learn how to solve problems and how to experiment
with new approaches. We’re developing custom training
programs for every individual at Commodore because sharing
knowledge quickly and efficiently is one of the keys to our
success. |
|
| |
|
|
| |
An
Open Culture is continually asking questions,
challenging concepts, giving feedback and getting feedback.
We communicate, contribute and conduct ourselves openly. We
walk the walk of an open culture. We avoid bcc’s and closed
door conversations. We even conduct Open Circle Dialogues to
discuss our culture and ways to keep it healthy.

Our
commitment to community service originates at the top of our
organization.
Our CEO, Joe Albanese, is a Captain in the Naval Reserves and in October 2007, returned from serving eight months in Kuwait. Closer
to home, we’re always looking for ways to put our commitment
to community service into action. In February, we launched
the 24 Hour Club. The program is designed to encourage and
support the community service of our staff, whether it be as
a Girl Scout leader, a coaching soccer, or doing the Polar
Plunge. When a Commodore employee completes 24 hours of
community service on their own time during the year,
Commodore rewards the effort with three extra vacation days
in that same year. Community service is important to
Commodore and the 24 Hour Club is one way to demonstrate how
much we value the individual contributions of our staff. The
program is off to a great start…check out the pictures to
see for yourself!

"Your team did an
outstanding job with our build out on the 35th floor
of One Post Office Square. They had tight deadlines
to meet and didn’t cut any corners. Being a small
company, we aren’t used to such special treatment.
Thank you for all of your hard work!" |
