Assistant Project Manager
At Commodore, an Assistant Project Manager
(APM) assists in running complex renovation
and construction projects for our clients in
the Commercial, Institutional, Science,
Retail and Hospitality sectors. An APM
reports to the Project Manager and splits
their time between the office and the field.
Hours can be early and sometimes late. APM�s
thrive in our team-oriented culture when
they bring with them a genuine spirit to
collaborate and strong communication skills.
Under the supervision of the Project Manager
an APM assists in the planning, scheduling
and controlling of preconstruction, project
setup, procurement, construction and
closeout of a project. This position is
critical to the success of a project and
provides a diversity of experience.
Responsibilities include permitting,
management of the procurement process,
submittal process, and various project
control logs to track these processes, as
well as Document Control, RFIs and Project
Change Orders. APMs play a significant role
in the preparation and coordination of all
project meetings and assistant in the cost
projection process.
Successful APMs are well-versed in software
tools. A 4-year bachelors degree in
engineering, architecture, or construction
management is preferred for individuals
applying for the position. APMs who excel at
their work receive the guidance and support
required to advance within the Commodore
organization.

Superintendent
At Commodore, we look for Superintendents
who are skilled communicators, experienced
and accountable. Their leadership on-site
consistently delivers complex projects on
time, on budget, safely and with Raving
Fans. They�re driven by perfection and they
have the technical and interpersonal skills
to achieve it.
Superintendents
report to the Project Executive in Charge.
The majority of their time is spent in the
field, supported by a project management
team based in the office. Superintendents
are responsible for developing,
understanding and maintaining the project
schedule. They work closely with the PM
during project set-up. They maintain a firm
grasp on the project strategy and they
understand the concept of cost control,
versus getting things done at any cost. A
4-year college degree is preferred, with 5-7
years of relevant experience in Commodore�s
markets.
Superintendents
are immersed in the details and day-to-day
flow of the project. Computer skills are
essential to manage the schedules, logs,
change orders, purchase orders and constant
communications with the team. Our best
superintendents have a Take-Charge
personality. They�re organized. They
prioritize and they problem-solve under
fire.
Superintendents
advise the team on subcontractor selection.
They respect and manage subcontractors for
maximum performance. They coordinate and
manage subcontractor activities. They
provide coaching, motivation and supervision
of all staff on-site.
Superintendents
are the frontline for our clients. They
speak their language. They simplify and
clarify issues before they become problems.
Successful superintendents run towards risk
and manage conflict. They hold total
accountability on-site and project a spirit
of collaboration and control.
Superintendents
are responsible for developing strong
relationships with permitting authorities
and city officials. They keep architects
informed. They understand team dynamics.
They close out jobs swiftly and to the
client�s satisfaction. They collaborate with
the entire team and make the construction
process easy for everyone involved.

Project
Manager
At Commodore, our Project Managers (PMs) run
complex renovation and construction projects

closeout and overall management of the
project team.
A minimum 4-year college degree and 5-10

sense of urgency and the desire to lead.

mentoring, formal training, support and a
clearly defined path for progression within

Senior Project Manager
At Commodore, our Senior Project Managers
have all the skills that Project Managers
have�and then some. Their experience enables
them to manage larger, more complex projects
and to leverage the involvement of Project
Executives. They can manage larger teams,
major accounts and multiple PMs. They know
when to give direction and when to dig in.
Senior Project Managers are expected to
function with greater autonomy and
ownership. They are responsible for the
overall business management of a project.
Senior Project Managers are capable of
resolving conflicts unassisted. They are
client focused. They hold responsibility for
developing long term relationships and for
managing accounts. Senior Project Managers
are technically skilled, mature leaders who
motivate their teams and provide a model for
excellence in execution.

Project
Administrator
At Commodore, a Project Administrator (PA)
coordinates and administers all aspects of a
project for the team, from the start to 100%
completion and turnover to the client. A
Project Administrator works with the Project
Manager and the Assistant Project Manager.
Project Administrators are based in the
office. While they are focused on supporting
the project team, there is frequent contact
with clients and subcontractors. An eagle
eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and
solid communication skills are required to
succeed in this position.
The Project Administrator lays the
foundation for a successful project.
Responsibilities include coordinating all
details and communication involved in
project setup, execution and close-out. PAs
solicit certificates of insurance, track
subcontracts, and facilitate the
documentation required for the client
requisition and subcontractor payment
process. The PA coordinates the content,
location and archiving of all electronic
project files. In addition, the PA tracks
project meetings and works closely with the
project team in the administration of
various project control processes.
Applicants for this position should have 3-5
years of work experience, preferably with
1-2 years of construction experience.

Estimator
At Commodore, our Estimators play a
critical role in helping clients meet their
objectives and build their success. They
have a comprehensive understanding of
projects and hold the responsibility for
constructing solid, detailed
estimates�building the project on paper,
before it is in the implementation stage.
They are key strategic communicators,
informing the team of costs, options and
alternatives, positioning choices for
decisions to meet tough financial
constraints.
There are many qualities that make an
Estimator successful. The most important
ones are the confidence to take charge, the
spirit to collaborate, and the ability to
focus on the details of a project. The best
Estimators have a propensity for
understanding an architect�s vision�even
before that vision is captured in the
drawings. They have the sixth sense to
identify risk and to ensure that costs are
accurately reflected.
Our best Estimators are highly organized.
They have the capacity to anticipate the
needs of a project. They understand the
fundamentals of construction and the
critical role of preconstruction in
reaching a target budget. Our Estimators are
responsible for schematic and conceptual
estimating; subcontractor solicitations;
scoping out subcontractor proposals;
competitive bidding; presentations of
budgets to architects, engineers and
clients; and maintaining subcontractor
relations.
A minimum 4-year college degree and 5-10
years of relevant experience are required to
apply for this position. Successful
candidates will also have a driving sense of
urgency and the unrelenting desire to bring
value to our clients. Our Estimators receive
mentoring, formal training and support, and
they travel a clearly- defined career path
for progression within the Commodore
organization.
