After way
too many years in Corporate Finance (primarily in the
Construction Industry), I made a conscious decision to “retire”
from that pressure-filled environment. It was May, 2004. But my
best laid plans turned out to be short lived. During the winter
of 2005, Joe Albanese, who I’ve known since he was a baby, gave
me a call. Outside, there was over two feet of snow on the
ground, including on the golf courses. It was cold and miserable
and his invitation to talk about a role at Commodore sounded
warm and interesting.
It was
obvious from our discussions that something special was going on
at Commodore. I could see it in the people who had already
chosen to join the new company. And I was well aware of the fine
reputation that Commodore had already earned in the market
place.
One week
later I was hooked, working on numerous financial projects for
Commodore. This part- time position as Finance Manager has kept
me active, stimulated, out of trouble and working with many
motivated associates. It’s also limited my time playing golf,
for which my body and knees are very appreciative. And thanks to
emails, cell phones, VPN’s, LAN’s, laptops, and Internet Cafes,
I can still make those occasional trips to Florida…and to the
links. Not exactly full-time retirement, but it works for me! |
