I’ve been involved in construction in various capacities, since I was 10 years old. Born and raised on the North Shore of Chicago, I’m the youngest of six children. Naturally, I became the fix-it guy for my immediate family and for our house, since my dad was the opposite of handy! In the 6th grade, I painted all 64 windows of our house, and progressed to painting residential and commercial properties. Ultimately, I owned my own painting firm, paying my way through college. After college at the University of Illinois - Chicago, I headed west, and ended up in Los Angeles and San Diego in the mid 1980’s. I built everything from houses, to airplane hangars, to corporate headquarters!
It was in Los Angeles where I met my wife Susan, who is originally from Arlington, MA. After enduring the riots first hand in Los Angeles in 1992, Susan and I opted to relocate to Chicago. I wrapped up building Sony Music’s headquarters in Santa Monica, while Susan set out for Chicago. Establishing ourselves in Chicago, I went to work for Pepper Construction, the largest Chicago based general contractor. While in Chicago, I oversaw some of the largest tenant improvement projects in the city, as well as other blue chip clients. My list of clients grew to include Fortune 100 companies, banks, car dealerships, even a bagel factory!
In early 2005, Susan felt it was time for her to head home to Boston, so we moved to Manchester, Ma in 2005, with our 2 boys, Brian and Christopher.
We’re an active, outdoor family. Our sons, who are now 15 and 13, both ski race competitively, play hockey, football, baseball, lacrosse, tennis and golf – so needless to say, we have a busy household! I’ve managed both of my sons little league teams for the past 7 years, and I’m wrapping up my son Chris’s little league All Star team this summer as well.
I’m excited to a part of the Commodore team, and I’m confident that my over 25 years of experience will become an integral part of this young and energetic firm.
