Acadian Asset
Management is a Boston- and Singapore-based investment management
firm. Their new Boston headquarters on the 20th floor of
One Post Office Square contain materials never before installed in
the United States. The imported FARAM engineered glass office front
system, the Nana folding glass partition, communicating stair and
soothing zen-like rock garden all required an extensive
pre-construction phase and close attention to the procurement
schedule.
Perimeter office
and conference areas, a video conferencing room, a cafe and millwork
and stone flooring were all constructed taking care not to disturb
existing tenants on the seven floors below Acadian, who maintained
an around–the-clock-operation and zero tolerance for disruption.
The complexity of
the communicating stair, with its wood veneer treads, glass panels,
light block feature and glass rails, prompted a field trip for the
whole team, led by Commodore, to the stair fabricator’s shop. The
result was an expedited process, with real-time decisions made
on-site.
Commodore was also responsible for
managing Acadian’s IT, tel/data and audio visual subcontractors
throughout the project, overseeing the installation of the server
room, communication system and plasma and projection screens.
