The Biotransformation lab consisted of the renovation of 1,800 s/f of existing laboratories on the 2nd floor of BLDG 8 on the Biogen campus. The project was constructed in two phases. The first phase built out an area that allows the users the flexibility to relocate and set up new equipment for their laboratory. This phase of construction included conversion of a walk-in cooler from +4c to a -20c freezer. A reconfiguration of electrical power to house the new and relocated equipment was also required.
Phase II of construction consisted of the reconfiguration of supply and exhaust equipment to allow proper ventilation for two bio-safety cabinets. The build out also included installation of an island for new manufactured casework, the installation of nitrogen, vacuum, argon, helium and compressed air lines. Phase II of construction took seven weeks to complete.
