It’s a hip, high-end American steakhouse that fuses the energy of Vegas with the glamour of South Beach…except that it’s in the suburbs, inside the new Indigo Hotel. The 220-seat restaurant in Newton opened with a flourish and gives suburbanites the option of skipping the trip into Town for a sophisticated night out. Commodore completed construction of the restaurant, bar and pool as part of the larger Indigo Hotel project.
The restaurant renovation transformed a 1970’s ballroom and restaurant space into a sophisticated modern steakhouse, complete with temperature-controlled wine racks and cigar lockers. Bokx 109 contains extensive millwork with table and bar tops made of Italian stone. An exposed kitchen allows guests to watch their food being cooked, while a celebrity chef’s table lets diners get-up-close and personal to what’s cooking in the kitchen.
The Miami-like pool deck extends beyond the restaurant. The area is scattered with magical fabric cabanas containing flat screen TVs, ceiling fans and luxurious sofas. Two floor-to-ceiling glass walls of the restaurant front the pool deck, lined with a pair of 24-foot fire pits for diners who want to enjoy a cocktail or cigar outside.
The existing cast-in-place pool was updated with a fiberglass liner, plaster finish and ceramic tile border around the perimeter. The pool equipment and piping were replaced to meet current code. The newly installed Sonaguard monitoring system sounds an alarm in the event that the pool is entered during non-operational hours.
A swank pool-side bar, hot tub jacuzzi and unisex bathroom were added to the pool area. Behind the scenes, extensive infrastructure updates were made to power electrical, A/V wiring, exterior lighting and the speaker system. The pool deck, restaurant and completely renovated boutique hotel provide a luxurious and relaxing escape just outside the city. |
