Located in the
stylish Hotel Commonwealth, in Kenmore Square, MSN names The
Foundation Lounge as one of the Top 10 New Bars of 2005. The
Foundation Lounge combines high-end, cutting edge design with an
ambiance of warmth and inclusiveness. Commodore Builders partnered
with George Lewis, Jr., former owner of the 1369 Jazz Club,
Quarterdeck and 29 Newbury, and with Gensler Associates, to create
this sophisticated night spot. Located in the foundation of the
Hotel Commonwealth, this 3,300 SF build out includes leather wall
panels, exotic zebra wood, metal ceiling tiles, architectural
ceilings, low-perimeter built-in couches, polished marble and
colored concrete countertops at the bar and vanity sinks. Structural
steel work was also required to provide access to an outdoor cafe.
“Our objective for the lounge was to create a space for a
sophisticated audience in a college-dominated market, for the
indefinite future.”
– George Lewis, Jr., Owner
