The new offices
occupied by Independence Investments combine classical old building
characteristics with a clean and crisp new design. The 20,000 SF
renovation on the 9th floor of 160 Federal Street was
executed on an aggressive twelve week schedule. Pre-construction was
done months before the project began to ensure all materials would
be on site in time to meet schedule requirements.
High-end
materials were used throughout the space. The imported stone floor
in the reception area is complemented by a signature stone reception
desk. Custom ornate light fixtures and original artwork punctuate
the design and layout. The conference rooms are equipped with
built-in state-of-the-art AV equipment. The perimeter window casing
were refurbished and left in place to integrate both classic and
modern building characteristics. The carpet was replaced in all
areas of the office.
Ceiling
mechanical coordination posed a design and construction challenge.
The unusually low deck heights made it difficult to conceal all the
HVAC equipment and telephone and communication conduit necessary to
support a modern office space, while still providing an acceptable
ceiling height. The server room was turned over on a six week
accelerated schedule to allow Independence Investments’ IT staff to
install computers and equipment. |
