Longwood
Events is an integrated event planning and management
company. Their portfolio of properties includes the landmark
State Room, an elegant function facility at 60 State Street,
with soaring windows and panoramic views of Boston. When Jim
Apteker, owner of Longwood Events, bought the old Bay Tower
Room, located on the 32nd and 33rd
floors, his goal was to convert the restaurant into a Class
A function facility. He selected Commodore Builders as his
Construction Management partner, to plan and execute the
project. Our challenge was to complete the project in time
for a major event booked prior to the start of construction.
There was zero-tolerance for missing the deadline.
Commodore
Builders worked with Jim and Alina Apteker, and their
designer, to develop a fast-track approach, beginning the
demolition concurrent with the design of the new space. We
worked closely with the team to ensure the project stayed on
budget. Timely decisions were made daily to procure
materials necessary to meet the schedule. The process
allowed the team to completely demolish the old restaurant
and function areas and build the new two-story function
space in just 12 weeks. The 16,000 SF State Room
includes a grand glass staircase and railing around the
mezzanine, highlighting the view of the City of Boston. |
